Tips to make radio advertising successful…

As a former radio saleswoman, I can tell you that radio, if utilized properly, can be one of the most successful additions to any marketing campaign. Radio advertising can be efficient, cost effective, and very creative if done correctly.

  • DO NOT buy with person connection/emotion. Sometimes this works if the listener matches who you are targeting but will not work if you simply buy the station because it is in the first position on your dial.
  • Once you find a station that matches your target, try it for at least 3 months. One month isn’t a fair sample for success.
  • Take advantage of all that radio has to offer. Yes, air time is the most important but supplement the campaign with online and onsite elements as well. We live in an age where streaming radio and visiting websites is becoming huge. You can check the stats for listenship as well. Most radio stations have events and concerts. This is a great way to get right in front of the listeners and sell your product.
