Reflective Marketing?

January 25, 2011

In this day and age, it is no surprise that marketers and advertisers are innovating and breaking boundaries in an effort to get their marketing message across. Proof of this comes from an article we found on consumerist.com which shares that companies like Geico and Coca-Cola are signing up to advertise in the bathroom! No, not in the bathroom stall (though I know it is done), but rather in that large reflective glass you see when washing your hands. That’s right, advertisers are jumping at the chance to get their name and images broadcast on bathroom mirrors! Each advertisement would be capable of featuring both video and still images on a 40 inch mirror until of course someone came to wash their hands, at which point the video would shrink and the person could look at themselves in the mirror.

How do you guys feel about this? As far as marketing is concerned, it is a great new avenue, but at what cost? Do you think it will be effective?

Check out the article here (they have a rough video showing what these mirrors would look like) and let us know what you think!
