Hulu Generates More Ads as Video Viewing Climbs

Hulu generated more U.S. ad views than any other online video property in June, according to comScore VideoMetrix. Americans watched more than 4.3 billion video ads last month, with Hulu generating 566 million on them. Tremor Media Video Network was the highest among video ad networks, with 524 million ad views, and landed the No. 2 spot overall. Tremor was followed by BrightRoll Video Network, with 333 million, and Microsoft Sites at 222 million.

Reaching Nearly Half the U.S. Population

comScore says video ads reached 46.1% of the total U.S. population an average of 31.5 times a month. Again Hulu was tops in the category, delivering the highest frequency of video ads to its viewers, at an average of 24.2 during the course of the month. Hulu alone reached 7.8% of the total U.S. population, writes MarketingCharts.

Online Video Still Surging

Nielsen data shows that online video viewing is continuing to climb. In June, more than 10 billion videos were streamed in the U.S., an increase of 1.3% from the same month last year, and a 4% increase over May, writes Adweek. Time spent watching each video rose 3.1% over the same month last year, and 2.5% over May. Total number of streams is down 0.3% from last year, but up 3.7% over May.
