In what may have been the most dramatic development in an already drama-filled season, last night’s episode of “The Bachelorette” saw Frank walk away from a shot at love with Ali to return to his ex-girlfriend, which really seemed to tick Ali off. She called Frank “the biggest jerk I’ve ever known” (apparently conveniently forgetting that she herself walked out on “Bachelor” Jake last season).

All the drama made for good ratings for ABC, as “Bachelorette” hit a season high and boosted the network to an easy victory on the night. “Bachelorette” averaged a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating from 8 to 10 p.m., according to Nielsen, up 6 percent from last week. The show peaked with a 3.7 at 9 p.m. as Frank was readying his farewell. Meanwhile, ABC led the night among 18-49s with a 2.8 average overnight rating and a 9 share. CBS was second at 1.8/5, Univision third at 1.5/5, NBC and Fox tied for fourth at 1.4/4 and CW sixth at 0.4/1. As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won’t be available for several weeks. Thirty-seven percent of Nielsen households have DVRs. At 8 p.m. ABC was first with a 3.0 for ” Bachelorette,” followed by Fox with a 1.8 for “Lie to Me. Univision was third with a 1.7 for “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe,” CBS fourth with a 1.6 for repeats of “How I Met Your Mother” and “Rules of Engagement,” NBC fifth with a 1.2 for an “America’s Got Talent” rerun and CW sixth with a 0.4 for a repeat of “90210.” ABC was first again at 9 p.m. with a 3.6 for more “Bachelorette,” while CBS moved to second with a 2.3 for repeats of “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory.” Univision was third with a 2.0 for “Soy Tu Dueña,” NBC fourth with a 1.6 for “Last Comic Standing,” Fox fifth with a 1.1 for “The Good Guys” and CW sixth with a 0.3 for a “Gossip Girl” rerun. At 10 p.m. ABC was first with a 1.9 for “True Beauty,” with CBS and NBC tied for second at 1.4, CBS for a repeat of “CSI: Miami” and NBC for “Dateline.” Univision was fourth that hour with a 1.0 for “Cristina.” ABC was also first for the night among households with a 5.5 average overnight rating and a 9 share. CBS was second at 4.0/7, NBC third at 3.0/5, Fox fourth at 2.8/5, Univision fifth at 2.0/3 and CW sixth at 0.6/1. © 2010 Media Life
